TIM
TULSA
For Tim, running has always been about more than miles and finish times—it’s about people, community, and the shared energy that brings everyone together on race day. A proud graduate of the University of Tulsa and Tulsa Memorial High School, Tim has called Tulsa home for decades and has been part of the local running community since returning to the city in 1992. Alongside his wife, Lori, he owned and operated Fleet Feet Tulsa/Broken Arrow for more than 22 years, helping runners and walkers of all levels find the right shoes, the right support, and the confidence to keep moving forward. Tim and Lori have one son Drew, who is also a TU grad and works as a videographer for a local news station and can be seen helping his Dad at many races.
Tim’s own love of running started early, competing in track and cross country in high school, and has grown into a lifelong passion. Over the years, he has taken on everything from 5Ks and 10Ks to half-marathons, marathons, ultras and trail events. With more than 20 marathons completed—including five of the Abbott World Marathon Majors—Tim understands firsthand the nerves at the starting line, the grit it takes to keep going, and the joy of crossing the finish.
That personal connection to the sport is what drew Tim into race directing. He began in the late 1990s with the Hurricane Run 8K in Tulsa, and in 2003 launched what would become Golden Driller Racing after becoming the first person in Oklahoma to bring electronic timing to road racing. Since then, he has timed, scored, directed, and supported hundreds of events, including the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and the Route 66 Marathon, where he was one of the original directors and served as race director through 2019.
Even after more than 25 years in the industry, Tim still loves the simple things that make race day special: the early mornings, the nervous excitement before the start, the volunteers cheering people on, and the pride on every finisher’s face. He enjoys every Golden Driller Racing event, but the McNellie’s Pub Run holds a special place for him because it’s one he both directs and runs each year. Other favorites include Escape from Turkey Mountain, Lederhosen Lauf, and the Firecracker 5K, the oldest race still being held that he started way back in 2003.

TULSA
Since 2014, I’ve been proud to be part of Golden Driller Racing. A lifelong sports fan, I cheer for the St. Louis Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Tulsa Drillers, and Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
When I’m not at a race or rooting for my favorite teams, I love spending time with my two children and two grandchildren.
My favorite race is McNellie’s Pub Run—a perfect mix of Guinness, good-natured shenanigans, and great company.
I grew up in Sand Springs and Tulsa, and I’m proud to still call Tulsa home.

Born & Raised in Tulsa, OK
Currently Living in Broken Arrow, OK
I started Volunteering for races in 2019.
I was a Volunteer Captain for the Tulsa Ironman for all the years that IronMan was in Tulsa.
I was given the Tracey Shirley Award for the volunteer of the year for the "Remember The Ten" Race in Stillwater, OK
I was given a plaque from Special Olympics for Outstanding Volunteer for helping with their St Patrick's Day races.
I wear "Sponge Bob" mask at Races and runners recognize me at other races by that mask.
I have volunteered at over 200 races since 2019.
Favorite GDR race : Rudolph Run. Last Several years the temperature has been chilly, not too hot , not too cold. I walk back with the last 5K walker and the layout of the race allows me to pass most of the runners twice and give out high five's along the way.

BIXBY
My current city of residence is Bixby, as of 2 years and I am also a Tulsa native. There are two races of mine that I'll always love and can't choose between, and that's the Tailgate and the Rudolph. Tailgate is a great way to enjoy a community of football lovers and, most times, enjoy the start of cooler temperatures. The grilling afterwards helps influence the sporty vibes. Rudolph on the other hand celebrates my favorite holiday. Everything about the holidays is special to me and I'll always have fun with a race that combines running and holiday cheer! I've been running for close to five years now and it quickly wiggled its way to the top of my list of favorite hobbies. I'll also take any opportunity to talk about football, Star Wars, or Marvel, and find myself discussing them with fellow race crew.
JAMIE
TULSA
Hi, I’m Jamie Marshall 47 years old from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, but proudly call Tulsa home. I am married with four kids, and I became involved with the running community in 2020. I quickly discovered that running is about so much more than just crossing the finish line-it’s about the friendships, encouragement and sense of community that come with every mile.
My favorite race is the Firecracker! I absolutely love the atmosphere-the community coming together to celebrate our independence while recognizing and honoring the brave men and women of our Armed Services. The energy, patriotism, and community spirit make it a race I look forward to every year.
Every journey begins with a single step-Run the miles, enjoy the friendships and celebrate the finish.

BROKEN ARROW
I started running 10 years ago through the local Fleet Feet Tulsa / Broken Arrow training programs. The training goal races were put on by Golden Driller Racing, and I quickly became a fan of the fun, festive atmosphere, great finisher medals, T-shirts, and, most importantly, the sense of community at the finish line.
My favorite GDR race is the Rudolph Run. With the holiday decorations throughout downtown Broken Arrow, Santa Claus, and families coming together, it’s become a fun tradition that kicks off the countdown to Christmas.
I found myself enjoying Golden Driller Racing so much that I joined the Race Crew a few years back. Now, I love showing up early, helping get everything set up, and making sure everything is ready for all the runners and walkers. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of an organization that is locally owned, family-friendly, and so dedicated to creating memorable experiences for our community.

BROKEN ARROW
I am a resident of Broken Arrow, a city I have called home since 2021.
I started running last year after being challenged by my husband. Despite my injuries, I haven't given up and I am still at it. Lauderhausen Lauf and McNellie's Pub Run were my first two runs and remain the highlight of my experience due to their exceptional atmosphere and post race events.
Beyond running, traveling is more than a hobby for me, it's a way to learn, explore, broaden my horizons, and create lasting memories. I also love photography, as my 45,000 travel photos can attest.

BROKEN AROW
Marathon coach, runner, training partner, race crew member, and proud father of an amazing daughter who is an English teacher. In 2007, I moved from my home state of Texas to the Tulsa area for work, where I became one of those psychopaths you have heard about who wakes up early and goes for a long run.
Not coming from a running background, I started my running career later in life after running (mostly walking) the Tulsa Run 5K. It was horrible, but fun at the same time. So, I did what any other normal person would do—trained for a half marathon. That led me to join the Tulsa/BA Fleet Feet Half and Marathon Training program in January 2020. I quickly fell in love with the sport and the community, building both endurance and lifelong friendships. Later that same year, I started helping coach my group. In the fall of 2021, I trained for and ran my first marathon. It was also horrible and not nearly as fun as the 5K, but I knew I could do better, so I signed right back up to coach and train for another one. Currently, I have finished 19 marathons across 16 states and counting, with number 20 set to be the Berlin Marathon in Germany.
As a local runner, I have run and volunteered in many Golden Driller Racing (GDR) events over the years. The Fleet Feet training programs use them as both training runs and goal races. They are locally owned, well-planned, well-run, fun, and unique races with great medals, food, and beer. Earlier this year, changes to my work schedule allowed me to join the Golden Driller Racing Race Crew to help provide the people of Tulsa and surrounding communities with memorable, family-friendly outdoor activities.
There are so many great GDR races, but my favorites include:
-
T-Town Half: Each year’s theme and medal are modeled after a historical Tulsa building.
-
Tailgate 5K: A sports-themed run ending at Marshall Brewing Company's Biergarten with burgers, hot dogs, music, and cold beer.
-
Lederhosen Lauf: Held as part of Oktoberfest.
-
McNellie's Pub Run Challenge: Known for its unique Guinness challenge.
-
Rudolph Run: Set in the Broken Arrow Rose District, fully decorated for the holidays with costumes, Santa Claus, hot chocolate, cool weather—and the race where I beat my running partner for the first time, so there's that too.

TULSA
I’m originally from Ghana, but I’ve lived primarily in Tulsa since moving to the U.S. as a child.
I started running recreationally in college and ran on and off for a few years before coming back to running in 2023 through Fleet Feet. I ran my first marathon (Golden Driller Marathon) in 2025, and I’ve been hooked on long distances and the challenges that come with the miles ever since. I also love the people and sense of community that come with running. My favorite GDR race is Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long because it’s a smaller race and I tend to place in my age group!
As a current coach and coordinator through Fleet Feet, I love helping create welcoming spaces for runners of all paces, and I believe the best part of running is the people you meet along the way. That’s a big part of why I decided to join the GDR crew.

I started running in 2010 to become more fit. It quickly became about running with my dad-a long time runner. We would run races and train together. We started my running streak of running a race every month. Sadly, I moved away from him in 2014 to Tulsa and quickly joined fleet feet training. I ran all the races. My favorite is the Turkey Trot.. probably because it is my PR race. But it has a great community feel to it.

For the last 26 years, I've proudly called myself a Tulsan — landing here by way of Virginia, Texas, and Georgia, courtesy of the U.S. Navy.
I'm one of the OG's on the Race Crew, and I've been part of the local running community for more than ten years now. Along the way, I've learned so much from every coach who's ever pushed, guided, or believed in me — and I've paid it forward, since when I'm not working a race, you'll likely find me coaching someone else through their first 5k or chasing a new PB in their favorite distance.
I've run more 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons than I can count, but a few stand out. My favorite race ever was the SkyWay 10k in Florida — sorry, Tim! — followed by a virtual half during the pandemic that turned out to be just as memorable, thanks to the running friends who made it special. Ask me about that one sometime.
Closer to home, nothing beats any GDR race — the energy, the nerves, the buzz of standing in the starting corral is unmatched. If you haven't run the Firecracker 5k yet, it's an absolute must.
As for distance, I'm from the school of "the longer, the better." I've maxed out at a half marathon so far, but never say never. And if you ask me to pick just one favorite distance, it's always the 10k.
